JOB TITLE: GUEST SERVICES ATTENDANT (HOURLY)* - ELIGIBILITY LIST
DEPT/DIV: monona terrace community and convention center
RESIDENCY: no city of madison residency is required for this position
SALARY: $10.94 per hour
HOURS: Hours vary depending on events and include evening and weekend hours. Hours vary from 0-40 hours per week as needed. Working hours in any given week are not guaranteed.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform varied public contact services for events, meetings, conferences, conventions and other activities held at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. Under the direction of the Event Services Manager and the general supervision of Event Coordinators may be assigned to staff such functions as coatcheck, public information desk, gift shop door checker, badge checker, service desk and other related event services. Work with other Monona Terrace staff to ensure customer needs are being met. Perform routine cash handling and light clerical duties such as xeroxing, collating, faxing and message delivery. Perform activities either independently or as part of a team. Perform related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of basic customer service practices and principles. Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to perform assigned functions without close supervision, alone or as part of a team. Ability to perform routine cash handling. Ability to perform light clerical tasks such as xeroxing, collating, faxing, and delivering messages. Ability to answer informational questions in an accurate and tactful manner. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with patrons, clients and other users of Monona Terrace and to explain and enforce entrance/attendance policies and procedures. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to maintain adequate attendance.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of public contact experience including and/or supplemented by routine cash handling and light clerical experience. Specific high school or post-high school training relevant to the duties and responsibilities of these positions may be substituted for work experience. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledges, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.

NOTE: The City of Madison Benefit Package is not included/offered with hourly positions. Employment in an hourly Local 60 position, combined with employment in any other hourly job category, shall be limited per calendar year to 1007.5 total working hours for office personnel or 1040 total working hours for field personnel with the City of Madison.
