ASSISTANT PROGRAMMING COORDINATOR II (HOURLY)
CLASS DESCRIPTION
General Responsibilities:
This is specialized, lead, administrative support, and technical work as an assistant to the CitiCable Programming Coordinator. The employee in this position is responsible for maintaining Master Control equipment, serving as a leadworker for Master Control operators, maintaining the tape library and computerized filing system, maintaining editing standards and performing related work. The work also involves performing a variety of other functions relative to CitiCable programming and is performed under the general supervision of the CitiCable Programming Coordinator.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain Master Control equipment. Keep video heads clean, note equipment problems in appropriate log and inform the Production Coordinator of needed repairs, defects or problems.
Train work study and other personnel in Master Control Operations, live switches and simple Amiga procedures. Maintain log book. Make shift assignments, delegate administrative tasks and perform work study, volunteer and intern evaluations.
Maintain the tape library and computerized filing system. Remove bad/old tapes and filing cards. Review tape library and pull tapes to be bulked. Keep track of blank tapes; order more when needed; and bulk and reuse tapes, when appropriate.
Prepare monthly program acquisition logs for programming sources and other related records.
Maintain editing standards (i.e., countdown, ID, black, disclaimer). Perform dubs or other editing as needed. Train work study and other personnel in dubbing and editing procedures.
Serve as Leadworker for Program Editors. Train, assign and evaluate staff. Serve as back-up Program Editor.
Create protocols for Master Control, Programming Editor, PSA acquisitions, etc.
Prepare daily cablecasting log. Prepare monthly reports to Station Manager.
Localize Public Service Announcements.
Act as Production Assistant or Master Control Operator, as needed.
Provide administrative and office support to the Programming Unit.
Perform related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledges, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of general and specialized computer systems and applications such as AMIGA and Macintosh. Knowledge of basic office and administrative procedures. Working knowledge of television programming, scheduling and cablecasting methods and procedures. Working knowledge of program/production planning, taping and editing. Ability to follow and give oral and written instructions. Ability to organize, schedule and direct the work of others and provide training. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports. Ability to learn and effectively use the AMIGA computer system and other related systems and equipment.
Training and Experience:
One year of office/clerical or related experience in a television programming, cablecasting environment. College level work in an area related to television programming and/or production may be substituted for experience. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledges, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.
