On Monday afternoon, around 3:20 p.m., Madison Police were notified of a battery that had just occurred in the 400 block of State Street, near Peace Park. Acquaintances of those involved said there had been a misunderstanding between the two men about panhandling. Evidently individuals take turns working this particular area, and the suspect and victim both thought they would be next to assume the position. The victim said he was seated on a nearby bench when the suspect punched him in the face. The battery was recorded on surveillance video, and the suspect was arrested for battery. |
