Victim suffered facial injuries, and scratches to the neck.
Details On Saturday, just past 6:00 a.m., Madison Police responded to the Open Pantry, 201 South Park Street, after an employee was battered. The victim had attempted to stop a suspected shoplifter, grabbing the man by the arm. The man responded by punching the clerk multiple times in the face. The employee fell to the ground, and was grabbed by the neck. The suspected thief also smashed a 12-pack of soda into the victim's head.
