We have just successfully completed the third annual Wanda Fullmore Youth Internship program. Commonwealth Development, along with the Mayor's Office and many other City Department and Division Heads were among the participants. This year was our biggest yet, with over 50 high school age interns participating this summer.
The interns in my office worked on expanding My Brother's Keeper, a program designed to build opportunities for boys and young men of color, and establishing a Youth Council to provide feedback on issues affecting youth to City leaders and help coordinate plans of action.
Internships are critical to helping youth build job skills and gain experience functioning in a professional environment. I have been proud to see so many City supervisors step up to ensure that Madison's youth are another step closer to success!.
