Madison firefighters, on Tuesday evening, joined with members of Madison's Iranian  community as well as City Alders and many residents in honoring 16 Iranian firefighters who died in Tehran last month.

On January 19,  a fire began on the ninth floor of  the Plasco  Trade Center, an historic high-rise in the  heart of  Tehran.  Over  200 firefighters were  at the scene of the blaze when lost  their lives.

The heroism of  those  firefighters  was  honored  in Madison.  As you can see from the photo, Fire Chief  Steve  Davis was  joined  by Majid Sarmadi a leader in the  Madison Iranian  community  in placing a wreath on a Madison fire truck.  The ceremony also  included a ritual bell ringing to honor the fallen men.

The Madison Common Council also  honored  the  firefighters at their meeting after the ceremony.
