A New Look for Penn Park

July 21, 2017 2:58 PM

Madison Parks Department staff held a number of public neighborhood meetings, over the past many months before the decision was made to renovate the existing  Penn Park open-air shelter on Madison's southside. tMy thanks to the staff who solicited the comments and ideas and to the area residents who turned out to share.

This is the before photo.

The project involves removing the current restrooms, benches and knee-wall surrounding the shelter, replacing the roof and concrete slab, adding handicap accessible ramp and railings, and upgrading the lighting.  There will also be a new restroom/concession building built.

Penn Park work in progress

Here is the work in progress. Stay tuned--- a separate project to replace and enlarge the parking lot and other site work improvements will follow.
