2018 Strike Out Hunger City Bowling Tournament for Second Harvest Raises over $3,000 & 200 lbs. of Food!

The City of Madison is lucky to have employees that are dedicated to their community in many ways. Not only do they work diligently every day to keep our great City running smoothly, but on their time off, they get together, as a team each year, to do something good for the community, and I truly appreciate that!

This past weekend marked another successful fund-raiser and food drive for Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin. The All-City Bowling Tournament is a long-standing tradition, but a few years ago staff decided to add the contributions both of food and funds for Second Harvest.  A record amount of donations has been raised each year since this effort was launched. 2018 hit another record with $3,000 raised and 200 pounds of food.

This could not have happened without the help of people from every City agency and City employee representative groups (Local 6000, Local 236, and MPSEA) who all contributed to donate to a great cause through charity!

Special thanks to team leaders Rick Roeth of Madison Metro, and Heidi Fischer of Economic Development, and many others who lent a hand, including their committees that also worked to organize this very successful and fun event.

Shout out to Bowl-A-Vard & Prairie Lanes owners Don & Tracy Bussan for hosting their 34th consecutive City Employees Bowling Event. Also a special thank you for donating four (4) individual $50 gift cards as prize incentives to boost monetary donations for the Second Harvest Foodbank.
