Even More Accolades for Madison

April 21, 2014 4:56 PM

We recently learned that Madison has been ranked the Greenest City in the Nation by nerdwatch.com. It was not that long ago that the American Public Works Association named the Central Library the Public Works Project of the Year. And just prior to that Smart Growth America listed Madison as the Least Sprawling in the Nation, for cities our size.

And today, two more lists that featured the Capitol City, USA Travel says Madison is one of the Ten Best U.S. Cycling Towns and according to Outside Online, we are one of the Ten Best Cities for Active Families.

The recognition did not tell us anything we don't already know. Active families appreciate our bike paths and B-cycle as well as our proximity to Devils Lake State Park. Our lakes and water sports like kayaking, sailing and canoeing are also referenced. And in winter months, we also have plenty to do with cross country skiing and other parks activities.

The cycling recognition also included not only B-cycle and bike paths, but also bike lanes on our city streets making commuting safer and more enjoyable, and plenty of opportunities for serious bike racers.

We live here, so, now that the weather is warm, let's get out and enjoy some of the many opportunities that people from all over the country are applauding!
