Another busy weekend in Madison. Of course there was the Frostiball that Sara and I attended with over 1,200 others at the Overture Center Saturday night. Another great event! It is certainly a nice way to break up the winter.
Earlier on Saturday, I was able to attend Super Saturday held at the United Way offices. Experts from a number of organizations met with people who needed some assistance 'navigating' through the options offered by the Affordable Care Act. With me in the photo below is Jay Young, United Way of Dane County's Health Connect Specialist and Lauren Cnare with Covering Kids and Families. Lauren, of course is also Madison's 3rd District Alder. Thanks to Jay, Lauren and many others for their work on this very important issue. There are other opportunities to meet with navigators prior to the February 15th deadline. You can get more information from this earlier blog.
On Saturday I was also able to join Police Chief Mike Koval and Fire Chief Steve Davis and hundreds of others at the Souper Bowl at West High School. It was another great success with delicious soup, wonderful pottery and funds raised for Habitat for Humanity.
And Sunday, of course the Super Bowl and plenty of snow! Yet again City crews did a great job of plowing and shoveling us out.
