It was wonderful to see so many people at the grand opening of the new Meadowood Community Center this week.
I was pleased to join Lucy Chaffin with Madison School Community Recreation (MSCR), Alder Matt Phair, Center Director Joe Schlesing, plenty of involved City staff and about a hundred area residents including their new State Representative and neighboring Alder Lisa Subeck.
The new center replaces a small and very busy center and includes office space for neighborhood groups, a game room, more space for discussion and study, a computer bank and other ammenities. The City, Common Council, the neighborhood and MSCR all came together to plan and fund this wonderful center and there is clearly a sense of pride.
This center is a great addition to the neighborhood. As you recall, the new libary there opened a few months ago. Yet to come, a shared space that is still under construction. It will include a community kitchen! That portion should be open in May.
