I had the pleasure of touring Bock Water Heaters, a City of Madison manufacturing facility. Bock Water Heaters designs and ships highly technologically advanced water heaters that work on all types of fuel, including solar, geothermal and electric.
A family owned business since 1929, in 2001 the family decided to create an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) to allow for all Bock Water Heater workers to become employee owners – every employee owner benefits from the growth and profits of the business. The Bock employee owners believe this gives their company a competitive advantage, as everyone has a financial interest in the success of the business.
I was happy to hear that the strength of Madison's local economy and development occurring throughout the City benefits this local company. Their water heater systems can be found in some of our newest developments like The Edgewater and The Hub.
After an informative meeting with the executive team, I had a guided tour of the manufacturing operations by Employee Owner, Jukoda Roosevelt, Sr. (pictured above).
