Earth Day

April 27, 2015 3:10 PM

Lake View Elementary School had their annual gathering at Warner Park to celebrate Earth Day! Over the past twenty years, Lake View has planted two dozen trees with the City of Madison as part of their Arbor Day, Earth Day, and Global Youth Service Day celebrations. This year, a few lucky Lake View students, Oumar, Doris, Gavin, Briana, Yarnell, Jaylen, Xanthe, and Alejandro, planted a tree with the assistance of City of Madison Parks staff.

After a lunch break, they got back to work! The group spent the afternoon walking around the area with trash bags cleaning up any debris that had been left behind over the long winter.

It is never too early to encourage our young people to take action to keep our planet healthy.  I am proud of Lake View Elementary's hard work and thankful for the dedication of Lake View Principal Kristi Kloos and volunteer extraordinaire Susan Hobart!
