Fayth Kail Recognition Day

December 21, 2015 5:03 PM

It was an honor to proclaim December 21, 2015 Fayth Kail Recognition Day!  I have known Fayth since the early 1970's and she has been an inspiration to me and many others.  Pictured below with Tracy Miller of Access to Independence Inc., Fayth worked towards the formation of the Madison Citizen's Advisory Commission on People with Disabilities and in establishing the City's local Center for Independent Living, Access to Independence.  She was the first person to receive the Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award in 1987.  What a perfect choice to honor Dr. King's legacy!

There were so many friends and admirers who attended Fayth's surprise  birthday celebration at the Madison Senior Center, including former Mayor Joel Scornicka, former Alder David Wallner and many others.

For all her passion and advocacy, her work on the Americans with Disabilities Act and other legislation, we owe a debt of gratitude to Fayth.  I thank her for her work and wish her the happiest of birthdays!
