This morning I was able to attend the weekly meeting of 1 Million Cups Madison. 1 Million Cups was developed by the Kauffman Foundation and is based on the thought that entrepreneurs network and innovate their businesses over a million cups of coffee.
1 Million Cups is an informal way for entrepreneurs to present to their peers and get feedback on their new businesses and innovations. While, the audience at today's event was more interested in getting cooking tips from Jonny Hunter of the Underground Food Collective, he was able to get feedback on consumer desire for healthy semi-prepared foods, a concept he is researching.
Jonny Hunter joins three other Madison chefs, Tory Miller of L'Etoile, Dan Fox of Heritage tavern and Francesco Mangano of Osteria Papavero, in being named a semi-finalist for 2016 James Beard Awards.
These relaxed opportunities for entrepreneurs to share and work together are very important to the continued growth of our entrepreneurial ecosystem. I am thankful to the organizers and participants of these events, your work is helping to keep Madison on the map as a place to start and grow a business.
These events are every Wednesday, 9am, at the Central Library. Come for the event and stay to research your business idea. Madison Public Libraries have very modern and specific tools and resources for entrepreneurs.
