Students Involved in Arbor Day Festivities

Warner Park with Lake View Students

It was a blustery day at Warner Park last week as I joined students from Lake View Elementary last week to celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day by planting a tree.  Lake View staff and students have been involved in this awesome project with the Madison Parks Department every year for many years and I am honored to be a part of it.  As you can see from the photos, we were joined again by State Representative Melissa Sergeant and Maynard the Duck from the Madison Mallards.  I don't think Maynard's feet allow him to be very nimble with a shovel but what he lacked in skill was made up in enthusiasm!

In other Arbor Week activities, students from Chavez Elementary planted a tree at Country Grove Park and students from Sandburg Elementary planted a tree at Sandburg Park. Great job everyone!
