Madison Joins the "Wear Orange" Campaign

Wear Orange Event

I was pleased to join the Wear Orange campaign (www.WearOrange.org) by declaring June 2 to be National Gun Violence Awareness Day in the City of Madison.  Our proclamation encourages all citizens to support efforts to prevent the tragic effects of gun violence and to honor and value human lives.  In addition to the proclamation, the Madison Municipal Building  was illuminated orange to honor and remember all victims and survivors of gun violence and to declare that we as a country must do more to reduce gun violence.

Gun violence ravages too many American families and neighborhoods, and disproportionately affects communities of color. This is a national tragedy and here in Madison, we have seen firsthand the tragic effects.  We must dedicate ourselves to finding solutions and promoting culture that saves lives.
