Madison Parks Ranks in Top 10

June 7, 2016 11:38 AM

As we already know, Madison has many wonderful parks but this amazing attribute in our city has recently received some national recognition.  The Trust for Public Land, a national open space advocacy group, ranked Madison 10th out of 100 municipal park systems in the country.  Our city hosts 6,358 acres of park space.  That means 13.4% of Madison is park land which serves 38 people per acre! I hope you have a chance to enjoy some of our green space this summer.   http://parkscore.tpl.org/rankings.php

I would like to thank our City Parks staff who help to maintain our Madison parks.  Part of their success is the assistance they receive from hundreds of volunteers.  You can help more by volunteering or getting involved with various programs throughout the year as well.  http://www.cityofmadison.com/parks/volunteer/
