A quorum is present.
Meeting minutes for April 13, 2004 were motioned and approved by the committee, no revisions.

2.

Green Building Workgroup presentation of initiatives.

Sherrie Gruder and Ken Pientka presented the green building sub-committee workgroup’s initiatives.

Initiatives and recommendations were identified and prepared on flip charts by the Green Building Workgroup. Items discussed included impact on existing building infrastructure, impact on new buildings, upgrade operation and maintenance, adopt green building rating systems for new buildings, examine zoning and permits, provide green building incentives, track benchmarking, invest resources for full-scale implementation of green building practices, develop green building technical assistance and outreach tools, and address private buildings, and other similar items.

Positive comments, questions, and points of overlap were identified by the committee as a whole for the Green Building initiatives presentation.

Energy Conservation Workgroup presentation of initiatives.

Craig Schepp presented the energy conservation sub-committee workgroup’s initiatives.

Review the energy conservation framework organizational chart. This includes objectives to motivate people to use energy wisely and motivate policy change to reflect energy and green values. Then measure, evaluate, and report. The framework includes businesses, homes, and the City.

Initiatives and recommendations were identified and prepared on flip charts by the Energy Conservation Workgroup. Specific energy conservation recommendations for City Government, Business’s, and Homes were reviewed. Each item has a rating in three different catagories:

Term

  • Short – next six months

  • Medium six month to two years

  • Longer than two years

Cost

  • Low under $10K

  • Moderate between $10K and $100K

  • High over $100K

Wow and Bang

  • Gets attention

  • Cost effectiveness

  •  Ease of implementation

Other program elements were identified for marketing concepts and education concepts.

Positive comments, questions, and points of overlap were identified by the committee as a whole for the Energy Conservation initiatives presentation.
 

6.

Identify what might be missing.

The committee reviewed all initiatives and recommendations presented on flip charts by both sub-committees. Missing items were listed including additional comments, questions, and points of overlap.

7. Preparation for next meeting.

Prioritize initiatives based on comments from this meeting. Each sub-committee workgroup will take their flip chart comments to use to prepare a new list. Sherrie Gruder and Garrick Maine will review the Green Building flip charts. Craig Schepp and Niels Wolter will review the Energy Conservation flip charts
