goal of this site is to inform Energy Task Force
Committee members of upcoming issues and events and to provide a place on the City’s
website where citizens can
observe the City of Madison’s efforts in promoting practices of
green building standards and developing
a long-term energy generation and distribution plan for the city.

with most sites, this is a work in progress. We will continuously
add new information regarding the Energy Task Force and its subcommittees.
Information has been provided on each subcommittee, including
their agendas, minutes and meeting times. The members of each
subcommittee are also listed.

An example of green
building practices:
"Results
from an 11-month period well into the effort indicates the
waste reduction project has achieved a 52 percent
recycling rate, exceeding the original goal of 35 percent.
Containers on site are used to separate concrete, wood,
metal, various paper products, and plastics. New materials
like the Styrofoam bead board that padded exterior
limestone panels on their trip from France and rebond
polyurethane foam used to package huge glass panes in
transit go back into packaging other goods. Drywall scraps
are ground up to become fertilizer." For more on this
