As the second largest city in the state, the City of Madison is a key part of the economic engine of the state.  Having a reliable energy supply is one of the essential services that Madison’s industries need to be successful.  From biomedical to tofu-wieners, energy generation and distribution is an issue that necessitates long term planning.

In addition, with Madison’s hip, smart, environmentally conscious citizenry, is the city doing all it can to provide clean forms of energy such as wind and solar energy?

This summer the mayor announced the formation of an Energy Task Force; with one of its main goals to develop a long-term energy generation and distribution plan for the city.

To begin this work, members of the Utility Subcommittee
of the Mayor's Energy Task Force will be asked to:

  • Analyze the city’s long-term demands for energy generation.

  • Explore the ability to provide clean forms of energy to the city.

  • Develop a process for providing citizen input into energy generation and distribution projects.

The Mayor’s office and staff at the City of Madison look forward to working on this project with members of the Utility Subcommittee of the Mayor's Energy Task Force.
