Beginning October 1, open enrollment starts for the new Health Insurance Marketplace. Through the new Marketplace you can get the information you need to help you learn about health insurance options, apply for coverage, and enroll in a health insurance plan.
Over a decade in the making, Central Park will encompass 2.5-acres between Brearly Street and Baldwin Street, and will include an amphitheater, multi-use pavilion, a skate park, a playground, community gardening plots, and a large lawn and stage for festivals.
The German delegation was lead by Freiburg Mayor Dieter Salomon. Also on the trip, were the Deputy Mayor, a number of City Council members and other community leaders.
While in the area, the group visited various sites including the Madison Children's Museum, the new Central Library, the Wednesday Farmer's Market, Wisconsin Energy Institute, Wisconsin Institute for Discovery, Monona Terrace and other venues.
The visits focused on sustainability and green building practices, since Freiburg is an international leader in sustainability.
The Madison Fire Department is installing free smoke alarms in 1,000 homes in the City of Madison. If you qualify, we will provide the alarms and install them in the correct locations in your home.

Moody's Investor Service has continued Madison's Aaa bond rating with a stable outlook.
Another national accolade for Madison, this one from Huffington Post for being one of the country's 25 healthiest cities.
In September 2013, Madison was recognized as a "Bird City" by the Bird City Wisconsin project.

On September 12, 2013, Mayor Soglin participated in a U.S. Conference of Mayors panel to discuss economic justice with nine other mayors at the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL.
