How to Use New Smartcards

In 2019, City of Madison employees will receive Metro's new smartcard.

Email Include your name, agency and inter-d or mailing address, and the card will be sent to you.

If cards can be mailed in a group to a supervisor or office manager in the same unit, please include that information. To confirm City of Madison employment, an email needs to be received from each individual requesting a pass.

Starting Monday, December 17, cards will be available at:

City Treasurer's Office (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
City-County Building,
210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Room 107

A City of Madison photo I.D. is needed to pick up your pass at the Treasurer's Office.

Photo I.D.'s are available in the City of Madison Human Resources office. Click here for more information.


  • Valid for calendar year.
  • $10 fee for lost pass replacement
  • Pass available only to City employees and is not transferable.


Pass program fully covers the cost of paratransit rides. If you suffer from a temporary or permanent illness that does not allow you to drive or get to a bus stop, Metro's Paratransit service will pick you up at your doorstop.


Guaranteed Ride Home service is available to support participants with taxi vouchers for transportation home if an emergency arises when you are at work. There is a limit of six rides per year and a maximum value of $75 per ride.
