Paratransit Safe Drivers

Metro Paratransit Service Overview

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 requires public transit agencies to provide paratransit service to persons with disabilities who cannot access the public transit system due to their disability. Paratransit service complements the same area and hours of the city bus system.

Steps To Paratransit Service
  • Fill out an application. Request an application by calling 608-266-4466 or print one online.
  • Set up an in-person assessment. Assessments usually take less than 30 minutes. Determinations are made within 21 days of receiving a completed application and assessment.

Your Paratransit Ride
  • Schedule your ride no later than 4:30 pm for the next day service. Rides can be scheduled up to 7 days in advance. Same day rides cannot be scheduled.
  • Be ready at least 5 minutes before your scheduled pick-up time. There is a 20-minute window before a ride is considered late. Call Metro after the 20-minute window to report a late ride.
