Bring trees and other brush to drop-off sites
The official curbside collection period for Christmas trees has concluded for 2018. Streets Division crews will pivot to performing snow and ice control operations for the remainder of winter. Regular curbside collection of brush will begin again in the spring.
Residents should bring their Christmas trees to one of the Streets Division drop-off sites at this time. The drop-off sites are located at 1501 W. Badger Rd. on the southwest side and 4602 Sycamore Ave. on the east side. The drop-off sites are open for winter hours, which means they are available for drop-off services Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 3:00pm. Expanded drop-off site hours will begin on March 31, 2018.
As a reminder, the second round of tree collection began on January 17. Trees set out to the curb prior to January 17 would have been collected prior to February 1. Trees set the curb after January 17 were not guaranteed to be collected during the second and final tree collection period.
While the official curbside collection window has ended, if weather conditions allow, the Streets Division may be able to perform occasional curbside tree pickup before the start of regular brush collection in the spring. If crews are able to be dispatched for tree collection duty, they will not be able to collect trees buried under snow and ice.
Since there is no guarantee that curbside tree collection will occur until the spring, residents should take their trees and other brush generated at this time brush to a drop-off site, or hold the material until official curbside collection starts. The official start date of curbside brush collection will be announced when that date is known.
