City Launches App for Recycling and Solid Waste Information

The City of Madison unveiled a new smart phone and tablet app that will provide residents with information on solid waste and recycling services. The new My Waste app will work on all operating systems and is free to download and use.
"We are very excited to launch this new information tool for our residents," Mayor Paul Soglin said. "Madison becomes the first city in Wisconsin and one of the few in the entire country to offer this innovative way provide collection schedules, drop off sites hours and locations and a comprehensive list of what can be recycled in our program."
Madison's My Waste app features a collection calendar that is tailored to each household. Residents can create custom reminders for their regular collection days and for holidays and special collections. The app also provides detailed information on recycling, Clean Sweep, brush collection and the Streets Division's drop off sites.
The My Waste app can be downloaded from the Apple and Android app stores and from the City of Madison at http://www.cityofmadison.com/streets/refuse/MyWasteApp.cfm
"More and more people are using smart phones and tablet computers," Mayor Soglin said. "The My Waste app is a cost effective way for us to get important solid waste and recycling information into the hands of people who need it."
