Fire Causes $75,000 Damage to Kraft Foods - Oscar Mayer

Extensive smoke damaged mural artwork in walkway, along with items in large locker room area of Kraft Foods-Oscar Mayer on Sunday, October 18, 2009, causing $75,000.
911 call takers were notified by Oscar Mayer employees to report the fire in the walkway of the plant.
When firefighters arrived at 6:57 AM, , they noticed smoke coming from the roof area the building. Firefighters took the stairs to the 5th floor, where they could hear smoke alarms sounding. When they opened the metal doors to the walkway, they were met by thick black smoke. The walkway, which is about 200' long, was charged with smoke from floor to ceiling. Firefighters used a Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC), to find the seat of the fire, and used a fire extinguish to douse the fire. Fans from the Fire Department and Oscar Mayer were used to ventilate the building of smoke.
Extensive smoke damage to the hallway and moderate damage to the large locker area of the plant.
Fire is under investigation. No one was injured.
