First-Ever Fire Academy for UW's Greek Community

The City of Madison Fire Department will hold its first-ever Campus Fire Safety Academy for leaders in the University of Wisconsin - Madison's community of fraternities and sororities.

Seventy students are registered for the all-day event. The Academy begins at 8 a.m., Saturday, September 5 at 126 Langdon St.

Students will participate in hands-on activities designed to demonstrate both safety hazards and prevention strategies.

•The activities include:
•Fire extinguisher training
•Hose handling
•A mock inspection for common code violations
•A full scale evacuation drill

The Department is presenting the program in collaboration with the UW Student Organization Office.
