‘School's OUT' Special at Goodman Pool - June 14
Goodman's Jewelers to sponsor the first 500 kids through the gates on June 14
Friday June 14 - officially named Goodman Day
Madison Parks and Goodman's Jewelers are excited to announce that Goodman Pool, 325 W. Olin Avenue, will celebrate SCHOOL'S OUT by allowing the first 500 kids in for free on Friday, June 14 - the first official day of summer break! Gates will open at NOON.
Goodman's Jewelers, 220 State Street, will be sponsoring the day by providing free admission to the first 500 kids to come to the pool that day. To honor the pool benefactors, Irwin and Robert Goodman, this day has been named "Goodman Day."
"Goodman's Jewelers is proud to sponsor this event at the Madison Parks Goodman Pool in honor of Irwin and Robert Goodman," says John Hayes, owner of Goodman's Jewelers.
Irwin and Bob Goodman were long-time supporters of many organizations in Madison, including Madison Parks. Their donation of $2.8 million for the construction of the pool was the needed impetus to get a public pool built in Madison. They continued to support the pool and the patrons by establishing a scholarship fund. Hundreds of children, regardless of their income level, have learned how to swim at Madison Parks Goodman Pool.
"Madison Parks was fortunate to have friends like Irwin and Robert Goodman. The Irwin and Robert Goodman Foundation continues to support the Goodman Pool Scholarship program and the Goodman Pool Waves swim team," says Kevin Briski, Madison Parks Superintendent. "We are thankful to Goodman's Jewelers in following in Irwin & Robert's generous spirit by sponsoring the first 500 kids to come through the gate on Goodman Day at the pool."
Madison Parks' Goodman Pool, 325 W. Olin Avenue, opened for the season on Saturday, June 8 at noon. Swimming lessons are filling up fast - register now on-line. Season Passes are also on sale now. They can be purchased at the pool, by phone at (608) 264-9292 or on-line at www.cityofmadison.com/parks/pool
