Invest Madison Parks - Outdoor Winter Clothes Drive
December 27th-January 9th
As part of the Invest Madison Parks initiative the Madison Parks Division is partnering with Community Action Coalition of South Central Wisconsin, Inc. (CAC) on an Outdoor Winter Clothes drive December 27th - January 9th. Winter coats, jackets, snow-pants, boots and gloves may be dropped off during operation hours at Madison Parks Winter Concession facilities: Tenney Park,; Vilas Park, Elver Park, and Warner Park Community Recreation Center, 1625 Northport Dr.
CAC coordinates the annual Koats for Kids drive in partnership with Klinke's Cleaners and Channel 3, which benefits thousands of households. However, as the winter wears on, the need for warm winter clothing continues especially snow pants and boots for children. These items are distributed at no charge through CAC's Clothing Center which is located at 1717 N Stoughton Rd in Madison.
Mayor Dave Cieslewicz supports the initiative and stated, "All types of investment in the community are a powerful way of expanding resources to accomplish the greatest good. From volunteering time to donations to establishing a legacy gift, Madison benefits from the generosity of all neighbors."
"Winter is a great time for kids to get outside and play in Madison Parks," says Parks Superintendent Kevin Briski. "Donations of winter clothes and boots can provide everyone in our community the chance to get outside, stay fit and have fun! Madison Parks is proud to partner with Community Action Coalition on this meaningful Invest Madison Parks initiative."
Operation Hours for Tenney Park, 1610 Sherman Ave; Vilas Park, 1400 Vilas Park Dr; and Elver Park, 1250 McKenna Blvd are Weekdays 3 p.m.-9 p.m. and Weekends/MMSD Winter Break Days 11 a.m.-9 p.m. (hours subject to ice and weather conditions)
