The City of Madison along with RG Huston will begin a complete reconstruction of the 100 block of King Street and the 100 block of East Main Street on Friday, April 4th.
On Friday, April 4th, the 100 block of King Street will be closed to through-traffic for the duration of the project. The traffic route of East Main Street to South Pinckney Street will remain open through this upcoming weekend but will close for the duration of the project starting on Monday, April 7th. The project is expected to be finished in mid-June.
Access to the Tenney Parking ramp will be maintained from Webster Street.
The 100 block of South Pinckney Street will be converted to two-way traffic to maintain the onstreet parking.
Madison Metro will be detouring four routes during construction:
All businesses in the area will remain open, and pedestrian access will be maintained to all businesses.
Madison’s Central Business Improvement District (BID) has created an online Downtown Get Around Guide with information on how to get to the King Street, E. Main Street and S. Pinckney Street area during the upcoming City construction.
To find maps, alternate routes, and information on construction phases, parking, and more, please see the BID Downtown Get Around Guide:
The Guide will be updated as construction progresses.
