Now that things have dried out, people who used sand bags in the Madison area are looking to get rid of them. The City of Madison has set up two drop off locations where City residents can dispose of their unneeded sand bags.
Madison residents can bring sand bags to either of the two full service drop off sites operated by the Streets Division. The sites are located at 1501 W. Badger Rd. and 4602 Sycamore Av. The sites are open seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. They are also open on Tuesday and Thursday evenings until 8 p.m. (Sand bags will NOT be accepted at the site at 402 South Point Rd. That site is for yard waste only.)
There is no charge to dispose of sand bags at these locations. This service is for CITY OF MADISON RESIDENTS ONLY. People from other communities should contact their local officials or they can take sand bags to the Dane County Landfill. For information on the landfill call 838-9555.Contacts:
