NORTH SIDE YOUTH INVITED TO "BASKETBALL EXTRAVAGANZA"

Current and former UW-Madison basketball players will team up with the MPD and Mentoring Positives at the Warner Park Community Recreation Center, 1625 Northport Drive, Saturday afternoon, July 24th, for a "Basketball Extravaganza."

The Badgers will be the counselors for a fun filled clinic featuring dribbling, shooting, drills and games. All North Side boys and girls, ages 9 to 15, are invited to attend.

"The event focuses on positive relationships and mentoring," said Brentwood Neighborhood Officer Susie Gonzalez, who added, "It's a family affair, so bring your mom, dad, sister or brother!"

The "Extravaganza" will run from 2:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Besides good times on the hardwoods, Officer Gonzalez says there will also be some great snacks.

The MPD would like to thank the Badger basketball players, Madison City Parks, and Mentoring Positives for helping make this event a reality.

Mentoring Positives was started in 2004 by Executive Director Will Green. Part of the organization's mission is establish positive mentoring relationships with at-risk youth so that they might stay out of trouble and live productive lives.
