Fairchild Street-W. Washington Avenue Construction, Spring 2012
On Monday March 12th, the City of Madison Engineering Department will begin construction on Fairchild Street. Major Construction impacts will begin on Thursday, March 15th and last through late April as follows.
FAIRCHILD STREET-MIFFLIN STREET TO W. WASHINGTON AVENUE: Fairchild Street will be closed in this stretch. Traffic will be detoured onto Mifflin Street, to Henry Street and then to West Washington Avenue.
WEST WASHINGTON AVENUE-HENRY STREET TO CARROLL STREET: West Washington will be converted to a one-way eastbound (towards Capitol) during this timeframe.
Beginning in late April after the completion of construction listed above, the following additional construction will begin and last through the end of June.
FAIRCHILD STREET-W. WASHINGTON AVENUE TO DOTY STREET: Fairchild Street will be closed to traffic during this timeframe. Cross-traffic on Main Street will remain open at all times. Eastbound Hamilton Street traffic (towards the Capitol) will be forced onto Doty Street. Westbound Hamilton Street Traffic (away from the Capitol) will be closed at the Carroll-Main Street intersection.
DOTY STREET-HAMILTON STREET TO M.L. KING JR., BOULEVARD: Traffic will remain open but will be reduced to one travel lane at times.
Delays are expected during the peak commuting times. Access to all business will be maintained at all times during the project. The Madison Central Business District has developed a get- around guide to help patrons find their way during this summer's construction season.
