MAYOR SOGLIN ANNOUNCES ENERGY-EFFICIENCY FINANCING FOR MADISON BUSINESSES
Special financing and incentives from Green Madison will help businesses implement cost-saving energy-efficiency projects
Madison, WI - April 17, 2012 - Madison Mayor Paul Soglin announced an innovative business financing model as part of the Green Madison program at a press conference Tuesday morning at the City-County Building. Green Madison helps businesses identify, prioritize, and implement energy-efficiency projects, and the financing plan is designed to help City of Madison businesses make energy-efficiency projects a reality.
"The Green Madison Program has had great success helping Madison homeowners make energy efficiency upgrades and now Madison businesses can take advantage of the program as well," said Mayor Soglin. "The lack of affordable financing options has deterred many businesses from implementing important energy-efficiency projects in the past. The Green Madison business program offers both financing and incentives to address that funding barrier and helps businesses make energy-efficiency upgrades that reduce operating costs and improve their bottom line."
Under Green Madison, collateral is provided on behalf of businesses implementing energy-efficiency projects allowing for no-money-down financing and financial incentives are rewarded based on projected energy savings. For a limited time, Green Madison will also offer financial incentives for small businesses to cover up to 40% of their project costs.
"The Green Madison financing program and incentives, combined with other existing energy-efficiency incentives, such as those offered by Focus on Energy, make it possible for businesses to move forward with its energy-efficiency projects," Mayor Soglin said.
All City of Madison businesses undertaking energy-efficiency projects between $5,000 and $250,000 are eligible to participate in the Green Madison program. Additional incentives are available for small businesses from now through August 31st.
Business owners interested in taking advantage of Green Madison Financing program are encouraged to act quickly as this offer is only available for a limited time.
