"Doc Ops" to Give Physicians a Closer Look at Emergency Response

The City of Madison Fire Department will offer medical residents from UW Hospitals a closer look at firefighting and EMS operations. The training is designed to give new physicians a working knowledge of emergency response and how it dovetails with emergency care at hospitals.

The program is an offshoot of the Fire Ops 101 program presented for elected officials and civilians, but with the emphasis on the continuum of medical care that makes up the emergency medical system.

The program has been developed by the Department's training staff in collaboration with Medical Director Dr. Christian Zuver.

Between 9 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. today, the residents will rotate through various stations, including:

o Fire Attack
o Ventilation
o Extrication
o Search and Rescue
o Rehab

Doc Ops will be held at the Fire Department Training Center from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
