January 11, 2012 - The winter weather is finally on its way.
Ice Skating Rinks - The predicted snow tomorrow and Friday will, unfortunately, provide an insulating layer on the ice rinks. Staff will be working on the ice rink maintenance to get the ice rinks open for public skating as soon as possible. All of the rinks have had open water due to the warm weather. For your safety, please stay off of the rinks.
Sledding Hills - The good news is….with any amount of snow, the sledding hills will be open. Elver Park warming shelter will also be open on Thursday, 3p.m. - 9p.m. Remember, sledding is at your own risk, exit the bottom of the hill and walk up the sides of the hill.
Ski Trails - Depending on the final snow fall, staff will be working on the ski trail maintenance. We will update the status of the trails on Friday. Please stay tuned....
Snowshoeing - Snowshoers must stay on the trails. Please note snowshoes are not allowed on cross country ski trails at anytime. Madison Parks does not rent snowshoes.
Please keep in mind that there needs to be sufficient snow to create a base for snowshoeing. The woods generally need more snow to fall because the trees protect the trails.
