Winter Activities update for Dec. 19

Ice Skating Rinks - Vilas Park skating rinks is open today. It will remain open tonight as long as the weather permits. Staff has continued on daily maintenance of the ice rinks and will open the other skating rinks as soon as they are safe. Ski Trails - Staff packed the base and set track at Odana Golf Course and Elver Park today. Both Elver and Odana have the short course set for tracks. Odana Golf Course will have ski rentals on Saturday and Sunday from 8:30a.m.-4:30p.m. And Elver Park will have ski rental and the warming shelter will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00a.m. - 9:30p.m. Lights will be on. Sledding Hills - Conditions are great for sledding. Sledding hills are located in Warner Park, Berkley Park, Olbrich Park, Heistand Park and Elver Park. Parks Staff reminds everyone to have fun, be safe and respect your fellow sledders. Bring your own sleds. Keep a safe distance from others when sledding. Exit the bottom of the hill as quickly as possible. Walk up the hill using the side of the hill. And remember, the use of the sledding hill is at your own risk. With each snowfall, we like to remind the public that park staff immediate priority is for public safety. Staff will be plowing streets, sidewalks and bike trails. Ice Rink and Ski Trail maintenance will resume after those jobs are completed.
