3rd graders tour Madison water well

Madison Water Utility has water well facilities located all over the city, many in easy walking distance from schools. We regularly welcome students from all levels -- from elementary through graduate school -- to tour our sites and learn about everything from conservation to water chemistry. There is no charge schools and other groups for facility tours.

Some of the topics we cover on facility tours are:

  • The water cycle
  • Sustainability and conservation
  • Source water protection
  • Water infrastructure: wells, water towers, mains and hydrants
  • Geology, including the Mt. Simon Aquifer and Eau Claire Shale
  • Water chemistry and testing

Water Utility experts are also available to speak at schools and community meetings.
