Mayor Dave Cieslewicz made the following statement today in response to the announcement of the retirement of City IT Director Dick Grasmick: "For the last 30 years, Dick Grasmick has served the City of Madison and has gained the respect of staff, alders and colleagues alike. He's always worked hard to run a smooth department and effectively managed major improvements in City IT. "Dick effectively managed an agency whose service is vital across city government. Over the years, Dick always stepped up to address challenges, working with many city agencies in integral roles. His hard work and expertise will be greatly missed." "I'm leaving what I consider to be the best job in City government and I will miss the really bright and dedicated people that I have had the good fortune to work with over the course of my 30-year career with the City of Madison," Grasmick said. Grasmick will retire in June. The City will begin a national recruitment process in late spring, with hopes of filling the position by the end of the year.
