Fire in Roof Damages East Side Home

City of Madison firefighters were called to a house fire at 1617 Droster Road this evening. The fire was called in by a pizza delivery driver who saw flames coming through the roof. He ran to the front door of the home and alerted the occupants who had been unaware of the fire. Firefighters were dispatched at 9:33 p.m. Upon arrival, Engine Company 5 saw flames through the roof near the chimney. The fire was knocked down at 9:45, but crews continued to chase hot spots in the attic. A fire investigator was called to the scene. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damages were estimated at $25,000.
