Winter Clothes Drive - Invest Madison Parks

posted

Today through January 13

As part of the Invest Madison Parks initiative, Madison Parks Division is partnering with Community Action Coalition of South Central Wisconsin, Inc. (CAC) on the Winter Clothes Drive from January 2 - 13, 2013. Winter coats, jackets, snow-pants, boots, and gloves/mittens may be dropped off during operation hours at Madison Parks Winter Concession facilities: Tenney Park, Vilas Park, Elver Park, and Warner Park Community Recreation Center. Madison Parks is working to help increase the number of winter clothing donations to CAC, a group that will find the right home for the donated clothing. CAC makes sure to disperse the clothing throughout the winter, responding to demands that may come up throughout the cold season. The donated winter items are distributed at no charge through CAC's Clothing Center which is located at 1717 N. Stoughton Rd in Madison. This citywide initiative helps thousands of households in need during the winter. "Winter is a great time for families to get outside and play in Madison Parks," says Kevin Briski, Parks Superintendent. "Donations of winter clothing items can provide everyone in our community the opportunity to get outside, stay fit, and have a blast in the snow! Madison Parks is proud to partner with Community Action Coalition on this meaningful Invest Madison Parks initiative." Community Action Coalition of South Central Wisconsin, Inc. (CAC) is a non-profit community action agency founded in 1966 as part of the War on Poverty. CAC works with people affected by poverty through a variety of programs and services in Dane, Jefferson and Waukesha Counties. The ultimate goal is to help people move toward greater self sufficiency in order to have better lives. For more information on CAC programs please check out the website at www.cacscw.org.
