Senior Art Show at the Madison Senior Center
The annual senior art show, An Artful Affair, opens at the Senior Center on Friday, May 3 from 5 - 8 pm. It features artworks in watercolor, pastels, oils, ink/pencil, chalk, acrylics, and mixed media that are created by talented Dane County artists 55 years plus. Works are judged, and cash prizes and awards are announced at the opening night celebration. Enjoy violinist Katherine Thompson. Refreshments will be served. Last year more than 40 artists displayed 100 plus works in the upper lounge of the Senior Center. This year's art show promises to be wonderful, with new interest in fiber art. Artist registration will be Tuesday, April 24 from 9 - 3 pm. Select works of art will be for sale. The show is open weekdays from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm through June 1. There is no charge to view the show. Friday, May 3 is also Gallery Night in downtown Madison, sponsored by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. Visit other near-by galleries; most are open with refreshments and special shows. Enjoy a pleasant evening stroll, viewing interesting art and celebrating the talents of local artists.
