Second Recruit Academy Under Chief Steve Davis Begins

City of Madison Fire Chief Steve Davis welcomes a new 16-week recruit class, his second as chief, on Monday, July 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the Department's training center on the Madison College - Truax campus, 1750 Pearson St. Chief Davis will be joined by a representative from the Mayor's office. Sixteen new candidates with diverse background and experience will be a part of the class under the direction of MFD training officers. Chief Davis previously led the training staff as a Division Chief. Here are the recruits who begin class on Monday: Jadon Beehner was previously self-employed as a floor installer. He graduated from American School in Chicago, IL. William Boone was previously employed part-time with Memorial High School as a coach, part-time as Director of Performance at Top Speed Prep Training, and full-time as a personal trainer at Lussier Family West YMCA. He graduated from Tottenville High School in Staten Island NY, and attended the University of Albany, NY, where he earned his B.A. in Sociology. Boone is CPR/AED certified. Stephanie Clary was previously employed part-time with Lodi High School as a pool Supervisor and is also self-employed. Clary graduated from Weston High School, and attended UW - LaCrosse, where she earned her B.A. in Psychology. She is certified as a water safety instructor and is CPR/AED certified. Jesse Faust was previously employed full-time as a Financial Specialist with the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene. Faust graduated from Oregon High School, and attended UW - LaCrosse, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business/Marketing. Michael Jacob was previously employed full-time as a Project Coordinator with Covering Kids & Families. Jacob graduated from Coon Rapids Senior High School, and attended UW - Madison, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and Human Resources. Ryan Majcen was previously employed part-time as a firefighter with the City of Kaukauna Fire Department. He is also employed part-time as a warehouse technician with Frito Lay. Majcen graduated from Kimberly High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy. He has attended the United States Naval Recruit Firefighting School, Fox Valley Technical College, and Lake Shore Technical College. He earned an Associate Degree as a Fire Protection Technician as well as various certifications, which include Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Operations and Technical, Fire Inspector I, Driver/Operator-Pumper, Technical Rescue Technician, PADI Open Water Diver, and CPR & AED. Lindsay Manning was previously employed full-time as a Firefighter/Paramedic with Menomonie Fire Department. She is also employed part-time as an IV Tech with Boyceville Ambulance, and part-time as a Paramedic with Nekoosa Ambulance. Manning graduated from Nekoosa High School. She attended UW - Eau Claire and Mid-State Technical College where she earned an Associate Degree in Paramedic, Fire, and Nursing. She is a certified as an EMT-Paramedic, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, and Driver/Operator-Pumper. Nicholas Mittelstedt was previously employed full-time with Ryan Brothers Ambulance as a Paramedic, part-time with Monona Fire Department as a Firefighter/Paramedic, part-time with Fitchburg Fire Department as a Paid-On-Call Firefighter, and is a volunteer Paramedic with Fitch-Rona EMS. Mittelstedt graduated from Westfield Area High School. He attended Madison College where he earned an Associate Degree as a Fire Protection Technician. He has earned the following certifications: Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Driver/Operator-Pumper, Driver/Operator-Aerial, BLS, ACLS, and PALS. He is also a Nationally Registered Paramedic. Adam Perez was previously employed full-time as a Medical Assistant at UW School of Medicine and Public Health. He is also employed part-time as a firefighter with Fitchburg Fire Department and part-time as an EMT- Intermediate with Curtis Universal Ambulance Service. Perez graduated from James Madison Memorial High School. He was previously attending Madison College and has earned the following certifications: Hazardous Materials Technician, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, and Emergency Medical Technician. Fernando Perez Jr. was previously employed full-time as a Pre-operative Care Technician at Monroe Clinic. He is also employed part-time as an EMT IV Tech with New Glarus Area EMS and volunteers as a firefighter with Belleville Fire Department. Perez graduated from Belleville High School. He was previously attending Madison College and is studying Emergency Medical Service, Fire Protection, and Nursing Assistant. He is EMT-Intermediate Technician certified and CPR certified. Kain Rizzo was previously employed full-time with Local Direct and Locavore as a Quality Assurance Lead & Community Outreach. He is also employed part-time as a bartender for a catering business, and volunteers part-time at a gym as a Lead Instructor. Rizzo graduated from Mosinee High School and attended Edgewood College, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in History and Master's Degree in Secondary Education. Matthew Schabert was previously employed full-time as a Sales/Business Development Representative with Conney Safety Products. Schabert graduated from Larkin High School. He attended UW Madison, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Science. He also attended Eastern Illinois University. Schabert is EMT-B certified, and is certified as a substitute teacher in the State of Illinois. Eric Schrader was previously employed part-time as a Coach with West Allis-West Milwaukee School District. He is also employed part-time as a Firefighter/Paramedic with Pewaukee Fire Department. Schrader graduated from Nathan Hale High School. He attended Milwaukee Area Technical College where he earned an Associate Degree in Fire Science. He also attended Waukesha Technical College and received a Technical Diploma as an EMT Paramedic. Schrader has earned the following certifications: Hazardous Materials Operations, NIMS 100, 200, 700 & 800, Firefighter I, Fire Inspector I, Firefighter II, Driver/Operator Aerial & Pumper, ACLS, PALS, and EMT-Paramedic. Michael Stockbridge was previously employed full-time with the Dane County Communications Center as a 911 Communicator. Stockbridge graduated from Stevens Point Area High School. He attended UW - Stevens Point, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Psychology. He was previously in the Nursing Program at Madison College. He is a State Certified Firefighter I, Certified Emergency Dispatcher and has earned his EMT - Basic certification. Brian Suter was previously employed full-time with the City of Eau Claire Fire Department as a Firefighter/Paramedic. Suter graduated from Waunakee Community High School. He attended Madison College where he earned his Associate Degree as a Fire Protection Technician. He has earned the following certifications: CPR, ACLS, PALS, ITLS, Haz Mat - Operations Level, Confined Space - Operations Level, Rope Rescue - Operations Level, NIMS 100, 200 and 700. Aaron Tetzloff was previously employed full-time as a Lead Cook with Salvatore's Tomato Pies since and full-time as a Kitchen Supervisor with Manna Café and Bakery. Tetzloff graduated from Monona Grove High School. He attended Madison College where he earned his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice.
