National Expert on Convention Centers on Proposed New City Financed Convo/Hotel

In the weeks before a city committee recommends a proposal to build a $150-200 million conference center/hotel/apartment complex, a leading expert on the effects of municipal financed hotels and convention centers will visit Madison. Prof. Heywood Sanders will hold a press conference on the national trend of building convention centers and hotels and their impact on cities and urban residents. He will also address the proposed city-financed hotel/office/apartment/parking complex. Sanders is the author of "Space Available: The Realities of Convention Centers as Economic Development," published by the Brookings Institution and "Convention Center Follies" published by University of Pennsylvania Press (2014). His press conference presentation will be in Room 108, City-County Building (210 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd) on Wednesday, November 13 at 3:45 PM. Prof. Sanders will also give a presentation for the public on Thursday, November 14 at 6:00 p.m. in Room 201, City-County Bldg. (210 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.)
