Fire Causes $150,000 in Damage

posted

At 12:35 pm, City of Madison Firefighters were dispatched to 2410 Daniels Street for a report of a vehicle on fire in a garage. A full fire response sends 3 Engines, 2 Ladders, 1 Medic Unit and Car 31 (Chief's Car) to a structure fire.

As firefighters responded, smoke could be seen from ½ mile away.  When crews arrived, smoke and flames were pouring from the building. Because of the heavy fire, crews deployed a 2 ½ "hose line.  Fire crews had the blaze knocked down within 25 minutes.

The fire damaged three businesses.

Prior to the arrival of firefighters, two people were working on a vehicle's tires and suspension. One of the workers discovered the fire, called 911 and tried to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher. When he realized the fire was too big for him to fight, he and a co-worker ran to warn others in the building of the fire. The gentlemen also went next door to a limousine company and were able to remove an SUV and a stretch limo before they were damaged.

There were no injuries reported.

Estimated damage to property and contents is $150,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
