Alarms At Camp Randall Point To Broken Pipe
Incident Details
Alarms sounded at Camp Randall Stadium Tuesday night, alerting the Madison Fire Department to a potential problem inside.
Engine 4, which resides just across the street from the stadium, saw nothing showing from the exterior. They proceeded to the Command Center to check the control panel. That's where they learned that this was a water flow alarm.
Firefighters located the broken pipe, which a bystander had already shut off to stop the water flow. There are no known witnesses who could explain how the break occurred.
Engine 4 made phone contact with maintenance staff at UW and shut down the fire pump at their instruction. The UW established a fire watch until all systems could be reset.
MFD cleared from Camp Randall at 8:56 p.m.
