One Pinned, Transported Following Early-Morning Crash
Incident Details
One person was extricated from his vehicle and transported to the hospital following a collision at the intersection of North Whitney Way and University Avenue.
Paramedics and firefighters were dispatched after a Honda Civic struck a pole head-on. Both driver and passenger airbags did deploy as the vehicle suffered significant front-end damage.
The sole passenger was able to get out of the car on his own, and he was speaking with police when fire and EMS crews arrived. He told police and paramedics he was not injured.
The driver was still behind the wheel, and his door could not be opened. Firefighters stabilized the vehicle as they removed the driver through the open door on the passenger side. He was placed in an ambulance and taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
