Though the exact cause of this fire cannot be definitively confirmed, investigators believe this fire was most likely electrical in nature involving equipment located above the front entryway of the businesses. The fire is believed to be accidental.

Incident Details

Shortly after 1:30 am, Wednesday morning, an employee of Wings Over Madison called 911 to tell them Qdoba was full of smoke, but the business was closed. Within two minutes of speaking to 911 Communications, the person reported seeing flames inside Qdoba. Wings Over Madison is attached Qdoba and is located on the 2700 block of University Avenue.

While the employees of Wings Over Madison evacuated, they saw flames outside the signage, behind the parapet wall.

Crews arrived on scene and saw flames through the roof of the building. Firefighters forced entry into the business and did a search of the building to ensure no one was inside.

Firefighters fast response and quick knockdown saved two local businesses.

The Fire Investigation Team is still on scene at the time of this release.
