Crews Respond To Accidental Bathroom Fire

Ladder Co. 7 was dispatched as part of a full fire response to an apartment on Morraine View Drive. An occupant led firefighters to the bathroom where a small fire occurred. Investigation confirmed the fire was the result of a candle coming in contact with decorations and other items on top of the toilet. Some of the burning debris dropped down behind the toilet and caught other items on fire. The fire also burned through the water supply line to the toilet. Water sprayed out of the supply line and put the fire out. Some flooding of the bathroom also occurred. The family was alerted to the fire quickly thanks to the presence of working smoke alarms. Firefighters ventilated the unit, and property management responded to perform repairs to the bathroom.
